The Redfern Gallery
One
of California’s finest
galleries specializing in American Impressionism
The Redfern Gallery should
not be missed by anyone interested in fine art. Specializing in American
Impressionism with an emphasis on paintings by the early California
Plein Air Artists (1890-1940), the gallery walls are filled with carefully
selected museum quality paintings.
The collection includes
many artists such as Guy Rose, William Wendt, Franz
Bischoff, Donna Schuster, Alson Clark, Joseph
Kleitsch and Granville Redmond. Complimenting the historical
paintings are current works by plein air artists, Kevin
Macpherson and Gregory Hull who paint in the same style
as the early Impressionists. The gallery also displays a fine collection
of sculpture by notable artists Carol Alleman and Mark Rossi.
The Redfern Gallery is
a member of the Fine Art Dealers Association, FADA, a respected
national organization of art dealers. The gallery was founded in 1976
and for thirty years has provided quality paintings which are
always guaranteed to be authentic. We are interested in buying quality
paintings and invite you to contact us about works you would
like to acquire or sell.
Located on Pacific Coast
Highway across from the Surf & Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach, California,
The Redfern Gallery continues to be a source for private, corporate
and museum collections. The Redfern Gallery is at your service whether
you are buying selling or just researching that special painting.
Meet the Staff
Ray Redfern - owner
Ray Redfern, owner, established
The Redfern Gallery in 1976. His first interest in the California
School came with the purchase of the Donna Schuster estate in 1975.
Over the past thirty years, he has researched and exhibited works
by the California artists who were active during the years 1890-1940.
These artists have helped to establish a visual historical record
depicting the land, life and beauty at the turn of the century. This
fascinating rediscovery of the "California Plein Air Artists" continues
to receive significant recognition.
His keen eye for quality paintings
is largely responsible for his success in the art world. He loves
his profession and looks forward to many more years in the gallery
business. Ray’s personal interests include traveling, fly fishing,
skiing and golf. He feels fortunate to live near the ocean in a charming
city where many of the early impressionists painted.
Roberta Haltom - Director
Roberta Haltom has been with
The Redfern Gallery for thirteen years. Her love of art started as a child
and Roberta continued her art studies in High School. She was a Fine
Arts major for two years at the University of Iowa. Later she moved
to California and completed her degree at Pepperdine University with
a B.S. in Business Management.
After several years in business
she wanted to combine her business experience with her love of art.
Roberta worked in other art galleries before settling at The Redfern
Gallery.
Her life long appreciation
of impressionist paintings is evident in her enthusiasm for her work
at The Redfern Gallery.
Karl Ring
Karl Ring began as an associate for
the Redfern Gallery in January of 2004. Prior to joining the gallery,
Karl served in management for ten years at a major Five Star beach
resort. Karl received his degree in Hospitality Business Management
from Washington State University.
It is this strong background
in customer service and operations that have made him an invaluable
asset to the Redfern Gallery. Karl has made significant improvements
streamlining the operation of the gallery. His enthusiasm for learning
and determination, always striving to improve, make him an important
member of our staff. Karl possesses a passion for excellence that
translates into the best possible customer service always insuring
that each and every customer’s expectations are not just met but exceeded.
Laguna Beach has been Karl’s
home for the past thirty years and his exposure to the art world began
there. His interest in art has developed over time and he is drawn
to the Early California Impressionists for their nostalgic interpretation
of the Golden State.
On a personal note, he
enjoys outdoor sports, especially ocean sports, and plays beach volleyball
at the tournament level. It is his enthusiasm for the art of California
along with his customer service and management skills that make Karl
Ring an appreciated member of The Redfern Gallery.
