Paul Grimm (1892-1974)

 Born in South America in 1892 Paul Grimm was brought to the United States at age seven.  Grimm already showed promise as an artist.  At 18 he won a scholarship in Rochester, NY for art study at Dusseldorf Royal Academy in 1919 he moved to Hollywood and began his art career painting backdrops for the movie studios.  Grim settled in Palm Springs in 1932 and remained a resident there for the rest of his life.  He maintained a small studio gallery in downtown Palm Springs at 428 N. Palm Canyon Road where such notables as President Dwight D. Eisenhower often visted and shared confidences. Although he painted scenes of the HighSiera(where he often could be found in summers:, missions and Idian protraits, his fame lies as painter of the Southern California desert and its many moods.  His works are held in the collections of the Sierra Nevada Museum, Reno, Nevada, Bank Of America, Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Post Office, Palm Springs, California
