Le Pont, Paris was painted in 1926, on the River Seine by Notre Dame. In this piece, Kleitsch continued in the manner of the Impressionists. He captured the atmospheric quality of diffused light to render a gentle depiction of an overcast day.
During his lifetime, Kleitsch was a member of the Chicago Society of Artists, the Laguna Beach Art Association, the Painters’ and Sculptors’ Club, and the Palette and Chisel Club of Chicago. In 1914, he won the Gold Medal at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Silver Medal at the Painters and Sculptors’ Club, and the Grand Prize at the Laguna Beach Art Association. Kleitsch returned to California in November of 1927. He continued to paint in Laguna Beach until 1931, when he died of a heart attack at the early age of forty-nine.
